Oxfam’s new research lays bare the huge shortfalls in funding needed to tackle the escalating costs of climate breakdown. I was quoted in The Guardian urging wealthy countries like the UK need to take full responsibility for the harm their emissions are causing, and provide new funding for loss and damage caused by climate change in the poorest countries. It is unacceptable to leave the world’s most vulnerable communities to bear the rising costs of a climate crisis they did least to cause. Millions of people in low-income countries are going hungry and being forced from their homes due to more extreme and frequent floods, droughts and storms.
