Interview: Carbon removal plans are dangerous distraction from cutting emissions

With just 90 days to go before the UK hosts important climate talks in Glasgow, Oxfam published a new report, Tightening the Net, which warned that an over-reliance on planting trees to offset carbon could lead to rising food prices and hunger. I spoke to the BBC, Times Radio and Sky News about the need to make sure net zero pledges to offset carbon emissions are co-ordinated and don’t trample on indigenous communities’ rights. And crucially, that carbon removal plans, while important, do not distract from the real hard work needed now to deeply and swiftly cut emissions.
