New Oxfam research estimates that as many as 12,000 people this year could die each day of hunger because of the economic fallout of the pandemic. Disruptions to food production, unemployment, a drop in remittances are all factors pushing people to the brink of starvation. I spoke to Sky and the BBC World Service about how Covid is a hunger virus as much as health virus. And importantly, what action is needed to avert the worst, including fully funding the UN’s emergency appeal, and debt relief to free up resources for developing countries to spend on health and (listen from 19.09)
