Interview: BBC – wealth taxation could help tackle inequality and fund Covid recovery

I spoke to the BBC about Oxfam’s new research, which found that Covid-19 could increase economic inequality in almost every country at once, the first time this has happened since records began over a century ago. Billions of people are struggling amid the worst job crisis in over 90 years, while the fortunes of the super-rich have increased. We have to build back fairer – tackling inequality must be at the heart of Covid recovery efforts. Fair taxation on the very richest could raise more money to support the poorest and help to shape more equal societies.
