The timing of the Prime Minister’s decision to subsume the Department for International Development into the Foreign Office is distressing, coming in the midst of a global pandemic. But his glib, inflammatory language adds insult to injury, and seems tone deaf to the Black Lives Matter movement calling for us to confront the lingering injustices of our colonial past.
