I joined author Linsey McGoey, Rhodri Davies of Charities Aid Foundation, Melissa Berman of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, among others, for an interesting discussion about the role of philanthropy in the modern world. I argued that while the best philanthropy can be transformative, we can’t just rely on the generosity of the ultra rich – we need new systems of taxation and redistribution in order to truly tackle inequality and poverty. Also leading the call for wealth taxes was Morris Pearl of the Patriotic Millionaires, who would like to be taxed more.
