Secondhand September

This month Oxfam has been raising awareness of fast fashion’s impact on people and the planet. Tens of thousands of people joined our Secondhand September campaign and pledged to say no to new clothes for 30 days, saving carbon emissions equivalent to driving a car around the world 200 times. I talked to Metro about how we can no longer turn our backs on garment workers paid a pittance who are unable to earn their way out of poverty, and to Channel 4 News about how buying secondhand could be the start of people’s journey towards more sustainable consumption. And I found my own secondhand bargain – a Ted Baker blazer – in the excellent Oxfam online shop.
