Episode 1 – Throwaway fashion and the climate emergency

22 August 2019 | Danny Sriskandarajah

Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure on our planet and the workers who make our clothes. In this podcast I visit Oxfam’s Wastesaver textile recycling plant in Yorkshire where Lorraine Needham-Reid and Holly Bentley show me what happens to clothes donated to Oxfam shops. Policy advisor Kiri Hanks explains how Oxfam is supporting people who are already being hit by climate change, and I take the#SecondHandSeptember pledge to say no to new clothes for 30 days.
